Background
In 2009, a new songbook entitled: Sing to Jehovah was released at all, “Keep on the Watch” District and International Conventions. Accompanying the new songs were Vocal Renditions, designed to teach the congregation how to sing the new songs.
After attending the, “Keep on the Watch” International Convention in Honolulu, I had a yearning to hear the brothers and sisters sing together in many different languages again. After discovering the vocal renditions in multiple languages, I decided to put them together to see how it would sound. After playing around with the music, the first song: 65 This is the Way was created.
The song was played for a small group of people and was received much praise. A remake was created, adding more languages and cleaner transitions. However, this version was lost after a computer failure. The second song to be mixed was song 89 Jehovah’s Warm Appeal: “Be Wise, My Son”. After the release of song 89, I asked one of the brothers I was working with out in field service what song they wanted me to do next. He requested song 134 See Yourself When All is New with the German language highlighted. After meeting my goal of 50 hours in July, I mixed song 92 “Preach the Word”. In November, two sisters were visiting from another congregation. After listening to the mash ups, I offered to remake song 89 Jehovah’s Warm Appeal: “Be Wise, My Son”. In March, I wanted to make a new mash up. I asked one of my friends what song she wanted to hear. She requested song 84 “I Want To”. Out in field service in April, my friend Sean requested that I do another mash up. I decided to do one of Sean’s favorite songs: 101 Making Known the Kingdom Truth.
